Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to state schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. Schools are responsible for assessing what additional provision these pupils need and are accountable for how it is spent.

Pupil premium funding is paid to schools according to the number of pupils who have been:

  • registered as eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years

  • been in care for 6 months or longer

In the 2022-23 financial year, pupil premium funding is:

  • £1,385 for each eligible primary-aged pupil

  • £2,410 for each child who is ‘looked-after’ by the local authority

This is why it is crucial that Parents and Carers apply for free school meals, even though at present all Godwin Junior School pupils receive school lunches free of charge. We can support any Parents/Carers who would like help completing the online application form. Please ask the school office if you would like to arrange an appointment for this.
